Natural disasters such as wildfires and floods are increasing in Southeast Europe, requiring rapid and sustainable humanitarian aid. In recent years, Greece has been particularly affected by wildfires, but other countries in Southeast Europe have also faced devastating fires. In addition to wildfires, floods and earthquakes pose serious threats to the region. To address these challenges, it is essential to equip and train volunteers, communities, and organizations with the necessary tools and skills for disaster prevention and response.
Through established partnerships and proven implementation structures, OlamAid not only provides immediate support to communities affected by natural disasters but also prepares them for future disasters. The project aims to enhance the preparedness and response capacity of emergency volunteer groups in Southeast Europe by offering targeted support in emergency aid, training, and psychosocial support. The following measures are being implemented:
Strengthening the response capacity of volunteer groups
Enhancing psychosocial support and self-care for volunteers
Local volunteer groups increase their ability to respond effectively to natural disasters.
Local volunteer groups enhance their ability for self-help and their competence in Psychological First Aid to support affected communities.
Establishing sustainable structures for long-term disaster prevention.
