HORIZON INTERNATIONAL
In our HORIZON INTERNATIONAL project, people who have themselves experienced crises – such as floods or displacement – work together to help other people facing humanitarian emergencies.
HORIZON International builds on the successes and experiences of recent years and further develops the concept of the multiplier effect. Refugees and other people who have already experienced crises share core aspects of self-help through their own aid campaigns, and at the same time, provide important humanitarian emergency aid in crisis contexts. These groups undergo a training and empowerment process so that they can then join OlamAid in providing humanitarian aid where it is most urgently needed.
The project HORIZON INTERNATIONAL thus empowers refugees and other people to become actively involved in helping other people in need and to jointly support them in coping with their situation. In this way, the project pursues two objectives: On the one hand, the participants themselves are strengthened through the empowerment process and their own commitment to other people. Secondly, a valuable humanitarian contribution can be made by sending the participants into crisis and disaster settings.
